Interested in taking up beekeeping or refining your skills with hands-on practice? Helen will be co-presenting the WA Apiarists’ Society (WAAS) Introduction to Responsible Beekeeping (101) course as part of the WAAS training team in Bunbury!


Whether you’re setting up your first hive or looking to build confidence in your brood inspections and biosecurity practices, this full-day workshop covers everything you need to get started safely and successfully.


What the Course Covers

  • Hands-on Experience: Perform a practical hive inspection with team guidance at the WAAS apiary.

  • Essential Skills: Learn proper smoker lighting techniques, biosecurity, and bee disease identification.

  • Equipment & Management: Buying bees, hive assembly, site selection, seasonal hive management, and harvesting honey.
